The Flesh
Appearance (Face): Shusuke's long hair extends to mid-back, and is usually worn tied behind his head in a low ponytail. His long bangs are usually tucked behind his ears, but the right side tends to fall quite often and cover half of his oval-shaped face. Vibrant teal eyes sit high on his face, above a straight and slender nose and a thin, tight-lipped mouth. He is a man who prefers to keep his face clean shaven.
Appearance (Body): It is apparent by his appearance that Shusuke does not rely on pure strength in battle, with only a little muscle tone. His lean body type would lead more to believe he relied on speed, skill, or superior tactics in combat. Only a few small scars mar is body, less than 7 in total, and none of which are notable. His skin is smooth and somewhat pale, giving a nice contrast against his hair and uniform.

The Heart
Personality:Being an introvert, Shusuke enjoys his personal time more than the average person. This does not mean that he always avoids interaction with others, in fact he quite enjoys being around small groups of people or having intellectual conversations with someone. Shusuke's introverted nature can be seen mostly when trying to engage him in small-talk, which seems to somewhat irritate the man. The quickest way to aggrivate the man, however, is to ask him multiple questions in rapid secession. This is because Shusuke is never in a hurry to speak, always thinking carefully beforehand, and cannot stand impatience. When questioned why small-talk irritates him, he replied that he considers his time extremely important and does not like to waste it with needless matters. Although, as already stated, he feels that important and intellectual conversations are worth his time and enjoys them.
Having the mind of an excellent strategist, Shusuke finds it easy to take on the role of a leader, especially during combat situations. He prefers to spend time training with those around him, getting to know their talents and weaknesses better, allowing him to make better use of his strategic skills. These skills also allow him to adapt to combat situations easier, being able to formulate strategies quickly in the midst of battle.

The Tale
History:Shusuke came to the 74th District of Rukongai on December 9th, and alone he would search for his family for twenty-seven years before finally deciding to make a life for himself in the 5th District of Rukongai, where he would meet his best friend Hajime. Hajime was a well educated man, who had lived in Rukongai for quite a bit longer than Shusuke, and had a plethora of knowledge and advice to depart to the young man. Shusuke would learn how Hajime had spent most of his life here in Rukongai in the outer districts trying to help those who needed his help. He would also Hajime was a master of many martial arts, and an extremely hard-nosed teacher.
After studying many different types of martial arts under Hajime for fifty-two years, Hajime was killed by a group of hollows when he ventured past District 80 in search of a lost child. Shusuke withdrew from socializing after Hajime's death, feeling once again lost and alone. After five years of depression, Shusuke finally snapped out of his pitiful state and began training harder than ever, deciding to carry on where Hajime had left off and lend his own hands to those in the outter districts. He would train in solitude for another ten years before finally meeting two lost children in District 73 on December 9th, exactly 94 years after his arrival in District 74. After watching over the two children and helping them search for their family for fifteen years, he finally reuinited the boys with their father and older brother. This would be the first of many lost souls he would help find their way, earning him the nickname “Mentor.”
Over the next fourty years, Shusuke would help a total of 53 lost souls either reunite with their families, or help guide them as they begin their new life in Rukongai. Five years ago, as Shusuke ventured out past District 80 in search of a lost child, he knew he was taking a risk just as his friend and master had long ago. And just as Hajime had been set upon by a group of hollows, Shusuke would find himself in the same situation. However, a team of three Shinigami from the 1st Division of the Gotei 13 had been nearby on a simple task and sensed the presence of the hollows. Coming to Shusuke's aid just in time, the Shinigami dispatched their enemies and saw to Shusuke's wounds. After telling Shusuke they had found the child he had been looking for, he decided to join the Academy in hopes of joining their ranks. After spending five more years in solitude honing his skills with martial arts and waiting, he has finally been accepted.
